Yeah. It's been 7 years. Can't say that I still feel the same since then but you can't forget.
Seeing it live on TV is one thing, the aftermath is another. Trudging through that mess weeks after was just surreal. The smell in the air is something that I personally won't ever forget. It was a mixture of a burnt smell--with dust and debris, and you can't help but realize that it's also the smell of burning bodies. That smell lingered on for about a year.

I have several friends that lived in NYC and luckily none of them were physically hurt but nearly all of them moved out of NYC and some are still seeing psychiatrist.
For those of you that know me know that I'm generally a calm and strong person. This event that occurred 7 years ago shook me to the core. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I was affected and it changed my thinking to a degree and even now I still feel the after effect, even though I was nearly 3000 miles away.
My thoughts go out to those who lost their family members on that day.

how many of you remember the exact spot you were when this happened?
i was at college in the cafeteria. class started and the teacher was bitching no one wanted to stay in her class. we all wanted to go watch the news.

I was home. I was still in college at the time and I had signed up for a class at 8:30AM ish. My college is a few steps away from WTC. I was feeling lazy so I dropped that class. Otherwise, I would have been with my classmates climbing out of the mess. I was still in bed but my brother, who was at work, called me to tell me not to go to school because of a "big explosion". Turned on the TV (still half asleep) and watched the next 2 hours unfold.
I have to say that I was quite traumatized and just watching it live on TV affected me greatly. Even now I can't stand to watch the towers fall... without looking away or changing the channel.

Co-worker said that was the last time she watched TV, because all they showed on TV was the planes crashing and towers falling for days.
It was bad for me after it happened, but then I think after 2003, I was fine. Now it doesn't really bother me. Only time it does is when I see pictures/video's.
Friend of mine from TX came to visit me a few years ago. We passed by WTC as I drove him to his hotel and I didn't even think about it. He kept saying "How the heck are you not creeped out/bothered". I was like :dunno:, been so long.

I wouldn't mind seeing the memorial in Somerset sometime, today would have been a nice day to organize a ride.
I did go to the moving Vietnam memorial, it'll be in town for a lil bit longer.

I'll always remember the drive home from work. They let us go immediately and I remember looking into each car on the way home. I was looking for someone to hate. I had tears of anger and pure hate from listening to the news along with what I just witnessed.
Boy have I changed.

11th grade chemistry class.
teacher was trying to bring up his local news from where he grew up, but couldn't get it to load for some reason. one girl kept asking if there were casualties. i just wanted to say 'two fucking planes hit two giant buildings, what do you think?'

I remember going outside the day after it happened, went up to the store...
There were like 5 other cars on the road, and like 2 people in the store, and everyone had a strange look on their face.
