Looking for a laptop for my sister, she starts her freshman year of college this year ...

don't need anything technically fancy, budget is $750 ... i'd prefer to keep her away from macs solely because the house is set up for pc's and the rest of the family has a hard enough time using a PC ... i dont want them trying to use a mac and calling me every 5 minutes.

i have an HP pavillion dv9000 and it has been great... no issues whatsoever... and we have had it for about 18 months...

2 gigs of RAM is adequate (and was an upgrade when i bought my pc) but i might consider 3 gig if i was buying a new pc...

i've only had experience with dells. 750 is a great price point to get a very good laptop...you really cant go wrong.

 

I just bought the HP dv2715 and love it. I got it for $599 at BB. Its strictly being used for school so bring on the HP hate.
