I'd go with Canon's newest, 790is. Full metal body, is, 3" screen, 10mp and same size as sd1100. Also has new scrolling wheel for easy access to camera settings.

I've got this one... it's genuinely pocket-sized, has decent manual controls once you get the hang of it and works pretty well all around. My only gripe so far: very little warning before the battery dies, and no viewfinder, just the screen.

so far I'm liking the canon SD1100 IS, SD790 IS. I'm kind of partial to Canon cameras (I already own a Rebel XTi). I have to do a little more research on these before I make a decision.

Just remember, don't underestimate how useful a true wide angle on a pocket camera really is.

IMHO it's not even worth looking at all these cameras that start at like 36mm when there are options out there that have 28mm lenses.

not to thread jack, but would be the best PnS with video? I have a cheap HP now and the picture quality is pretty good (as good a a 80 buck camera can be). But the video sucks ass. I would like it better if i didn't have to buy a video camera too.

I wish she hadn't gotten the pink one though, because of course I end up holding/carrying it most of the time when we use it. h:

I went ahead and picked this one up on Amazon today, as it's on sale for $179. Thanks for all the help guys.
