Default Landlords

Has anyone had any major problems with previous landlords?
My girlfriend and I are dealing with our previous landlord over a couple issues, one of them involving their son and his wife who used to rent a room and cracked my girlfriends laptop screen. And the other issue is its been 17 days and they haven't returned any of the deposit yet. We'll be taking them to small claims over the first issue and probably for the second as well.

I hate dealing with this shit.

Is your lease only one year then you keep extending it?

I don't think legally they can raise rent while you are in your lease. Thats part of the reason having a least.
I would look up landlord tenant laws in your state.

Oh I forgot to say since its been over 14 days since we have been officially out with no written list of why they are deducting our deposit or us receiving our deposit, we legally get 100% of the lease back. If we take it to court the court can give us 200% of the deposit back.

Marshy!
There is no reason why he should not give you back your deposit

Unless there was mass repairs
or there was and issue with the last rent payment.

I don't know what the laws are in washington state
but you should see every penny of your depsoit back!
