make sure blade is under 3 inches. i believe that is the legal limit. i accidently had a knife in my pocket when i went into national archive in dc earlier this year. at the archive they make you take everything out of your pockets and go through metal detector and they inspect whats in your pockets. they made me take out my knife and the guy said it was under 3inches/size of my palm so its fine.

This is what I have. I love it. Mine's the non-serrated version, but you can choose either depending on your preference.

depends on state.

To answer the OP question, anything from one of the big names will do you fine. Find something in the size you want and the blade style you want.

I've had CRKT, Spyderco, Kershaw, Gerber, Microtech, Emerson, etc.

Right now I carry an Emerson Commander and a SAK Fieldmaster along with a CRKT 5520K.

It really just depends on what you want and can carry.

i dont really have a pocketknife persay ... unless you consider a almost 5 inch blade pocket size

i carry a 4.5 inch buck folder and then i have my skinner, my 7" and my 10" i carry when in field ... yea 4 blades may be a bit overkill at once but they all have individual uses h:

i really wanna get the CRKT M21 special force folder though, just under 4" and semi serrated with a deep belly blade ftw ... 130 bucks roughly
