Jesus Rave
and yes I do feel beter about myself for it, thanks for asking

BTW I didn't go out of my way to make that comment...I was in this thread and was planning to reply anyways so it was no trouble at all.
The people that use religion as a scapegoat for wars, crusades, murder, whatever you will call it are not right and shouldn't be your basis for judging someones faith. Catholic priests who molest children are not a good basis, "Christians" who murder and steal are not a good basis. "Good Catholics" are not a good basis. Religion is such a nasty word anymore because of what becomes associated with it.
I've said it in every religion thread in here that it comes down to respect. What John posted above is offensive because he is lumping every single believer into a pool and has something against each one for whatever reason.
Respect me for my choices and beliefs and I'll respect you for not believing. I won't shove my views in your face and I expect you to do the same. Any of you that I have met or talk to on a regular basis can hopefully attest that I don't try to shove anything in your face and will rarely even bring up the subject on my own.
Saying religion is a crutch is inaccurate and offensive because I myself do not use it because I am "weak". It's more or less a moral standard on how I believe I should live my life. Others turn to religion in times of need or despair, how does that make them weak? They are admitting they need help and in doing so are stronger for that reason alone.
Not exactly posting this towards any specific person, just throwing it out there.

Respect my decision to look at those who throw themselves into religion as just a little bit weaker than most and we will be cool

I wish youtube worked at work
. And I agree with post #21. Thanks for saying it. People that don't believe in anything will naturally think those that do are deceived retards. But if they knew or felt the things we know or feel, they wouldn't have that opinion. Story of the whole damn world I guess.

what exactly is this you know and feel that other people that don't necessarily believe in religion don't have a grasp of?
one of the most comical aspects to religion to me is how none of it has ever had any tangible proof shown yet the major organizations like the catholic church will stand there and call someone who believes in something else a heretic ... ie the spaghetti monster ...
yet those that believe in the spaghetti monster have just as much proof as the catholic church, just the belief hasnt been around as long
in the end its like the game you play as kids, one person starts a story and you go in a circle each person adding a little bit. by the time it gets back to the first kid its no where near what the story really was. religion is the same way. all it is is stories and ideals passed down from generation to generation with no way to even know if what is said today is really what happened or if its even the same story ... but thats faith i guess
i prefer to put my faith in tangible events, events that even a billion years old still have some real-life proof to show they did happen
