go in there and handle business?

are you even paying attention to whats going on?

russia is doing nothing but making it worse. they back the seperatists, they are involved directly in internal affairs of other countries. and they are going beyond simply protection. they are attacking georgia, not defending the seperatists.

georgia is looking for a ceasefire and russia continues to attack, even attacking the international airport outside the georgia capitol .... yea sounds like they really are just protecting the innocents

souht ossetian is a breakaway region of georgia

back in the early 90's they broke away and as part of the cease-fire russia sent in peacekeepers to keep the two sides from violating that. between then and now russia has been accused of providing training and arms to the seperatist side and also it has given russian citizenship to the majority of the population in the region

over the last week the seperatists and georgia have both traded fire. georgia finally went in to reclaim the territory and russia started pouring troops over the border as well as allowing resistance fighters from russian held territories to enter south ossetian.

as peacekeepers you arent allowed to take sides nor are you really supposed to be on the offensive. you are a defensive force intended t okeep both sides from fighitng. not provide support to one side over the other.

russia has so far bombed a seaport city that is a major oil hub, its also attacked military targets as well as international airport outside of the georgian capitol. also it destroyed a city in georgia where georgian troops were massing in support of their fellows already fighting. these are not actions of peacekeepers.

russia has previously this year violated georgian airspace as well as shot down unmanned drones of georgian forces. it IS NOT acting as a peacekeeping force but rather an aggressor.

not to mention the georgian government is asking for a cease-fire and claims it has sent notice to the russians, russia is denying this and continues to act aggresively. as well as all along it denied it was involved until it was obvious they were there. the second georgia asked for a cease-fire and russia continued to attack ... they became an aggressor not a peacekeeper

you guys and your oil conspiracy theories

it doesnt matter at this point what it involves. if russia continues to be an aggressor towards georgia the US will be forced to get involved. we have a military coop clause with georgia. they are a very big ally of ours. they up until this week had the 3rd largest force in iraq next to the UK and US

we have already told russia that their continued aggression will have drastic implications in future foreign relations between the US and Russia

Yes, because the U.S. has gotten such an oil hookup from Iraq. (Oil is at an all time high)

They aren't talking necessarily the US itself the people who have connections to those companies that are in the US is another story h:

Note, I'm taking no sides to this... just explaining what I think those two are saying h:
