Default Emissions testing

I know not many people are from Washington, but I figure most states would do the same.

My tabs expire in July, so I need to go get testings. I currently have a CEL (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction, I think) I haven't had a chance to fix it yet. This may cause me to fail, but I'm not sure.
Will emission places fail you right off the bat if you have a CEL?

no, you will test to see if you pass the sniffer then fail if cel is on afterwards

Thats what I would assume.

So its a P0400. Which I guess is with the fuel cap with some people. I always click mine a few times, maybe I didn't do it very well one time, but wouldn't it turn off?

It usually takes a few engine-on/engine-off cycles before the CEL goes off, if it was only a loose gas cap.

Don't know what the law is where you are, but in Massholia, a lit-up CEL is an automatic fail on the emissions test.

I would pull the negative cable off to reset the check engine light. Then take it immediately to the emissions station. They pass even if your readiness codes have not been set (experience from Lynnwood, WA). As long as it passes the sniffer test at the time and there's no check engine light you should be fine.

I'm going to go to Schucks tomorrow morning to clear the code then drive to the emissions place.

In CO, CEL = don't even bother testing. Even if the emissions are clean, they wont pass you.
