How does that mean all laws?!
He means laws telling people what they can and can't do to themselves, that's doesn't affect anyone else ....that doesn't include laws against murder, theft, rape, etc...

And I completely agree with him, BTW.

Eh, banning a "food" probably isn't a good direction to go. Banning cigs in certain places is justified because it infringes on others rights to not have to breathe your smoke. But banning food? Basically they're forcing you to be more healthy.

IMO laws should only be enacted when your actions infringe on others rights. Eating trans-fat foods doesn't infringe on anyone elses rights. But remember, this is California. Chances are they'll seceed from the Union in the next 50 years or so and form their own socialist state.

I'd rather they force people to be healthy so I don't have to look at fatties all day long h:

Well trans fat is only a minute factor in the grand scheme of things making people fat.

and maybe you are fat and have no self control, that is why you need the government to step in :roofles:

Trans-fats don't make you fat any quicker than regular animal or vegetable fat. They're bad because they raise the "bad" cholesterols in your blood and decrese the "good" ones which can lead to heart problems in the long run. But as far as calories they're no worse than anything else.

Having said that, if we cut out more trans-fats maybe heart problems would decrease. We spend too damn much in this country on treatments for heart problems. I still don't agree with the gov't telling us what to eat and what not to eat.

I think so. but still doesn't give the government the authority to chose what we can and can't eat. that is just silly.
