Tell me if this is possible.

If A1 equal any of the values in column A from another worksheet, copy the value from the row D of the matched record into D1. Else write '-'.

=IF(A1=Sheet2!$A$1:$A$9,Sheet2!D1,"-") -

the $ is to hold your range so when you cut and paste it doesnt move, but this will probably not work too well if you have different information in D but the same in A
