I love the 8 series...it's a very dated look, but still stylish. Just glad I don't own one :chuckles:
my friend/coworker has a green 91 850i we're going to start working on. as soon as we're done with converting/restoring his e34 1990 525i into a diesel engine.
we started on the interior. we're softening the leather and will recondition it then redye if necessary.
this shit takes a long time h:

they are quite the torque monsters on the freeway. from a standing start the 850i isn't that impressive (850csi excluded) but once you get to about 70mph and go full throttle... lets just say it keeps pulling well into triple digits...

I think it was you rick that said something about them being a pain to maintain if problems ever occured?
yep it is a pain. we're definetly not looking forward to cleaning up the electricals.
the main problem with umm problems with the car is that very few people have experience with it. it was also the first bmw to use a new bus system which was subsequently trashed :chuckles: and rehashed/improved into the new models.
but looking beyond that, the V12 engine is rock solid reliable. I suggested that maybe we should just rip out the stock seats and put in race seats. (stock seats are about 200-250lbs) however the seatbelts are integrated into the seat so he would have no seatbelt  so the car has several unique features that creates unique problem or at least require unique solutions to the problem.
