Default FTP Server question

Does anyone know how to set up an FTP server so I can have people outside of my 192.168.1.xxx get to files on my computer?

I am using BulletProof FTP and I see the 192.168.1.102 (My internal IP) and the Remote IP of xx.xxx.x.xxx but when I tried to have Drew sign on, it wasn't working....didn't even see an attempt to log in.

Any ideas?

1. you have to forward the port in your router
2. a lot of ISPs block 21.... use 22 or some shit.

So in the FTP program, change the port to 22 or something?

Somewhat new to me...

yea.

then disable the windows firewall, (if enabled)

then forward the port in your router.

are you sure youre running the server version and not the client?

Better question:

What exactly are you wanting to accomplish?

Considering it is called BulletProof FTP Server version 2.3.1 (Build 26) I would say so...yes.

How does one forward ports (and do I do it on the cable modem or the wireless modem?)

THanks Jani

I can only imagine. But, what exactly are you doing?

Are you trying to host FTP off of a personal XP machine? Or, do you have a Windows Server?
