In a sense.. yeah. I can say exactly what you said about children that you did about pets. I have no desire to ever have children. They're great for other people. But not for me. Don't get me wrong, I adore my neices and nephews.. but at the end of the day... they go go back to their parents. Mikey and Drake are like my kids. What they bring into my life far out ways any sort of expense. I don't see them as items. I don't own them. Sure.. in technical terms I do. But.. they are as much a part of my family as any human. Some people understand that bond. Some don't. It's cool.

Oh I totally understand that bond, but at the end of the day a pet is a posession and a human life is not.

Can you freely trade or purchase a child? No you can't so there is a huge difference between the two.

My dog is fun to play with. I dig him so much and I would be heartbroken for a long time. Then, I would suck it up, adopt a new mutt and play squeaky sheep with it. My dog provides no more for me than the Wii does. Plain and simple he is an entertainment item, a luxury.
On the other hand I have felt my baby move in my womb, I have breast fed him and kissed his boo boos. My future is him. When I am old and can no longer care for myself, he will be the one who does it. He is going to grow and go to college and the potential is there for him to change the entire human race. Maybe a cure for cancer or being part of the diplomatic team that brings peace to wartorn places.
I know it sounds awful but I would rather see 100 dogs die than one child, no matter whose child it is. Especially in China where some of those poor women have only one and they have poured their hearts and souls into those one darling precious bundles only to have the hand of God demolish the school and crush them.

I dont think anyone can own a life whether they think they do or not. I look down on someone that would trade or sell their animal (unless there is a true extenuating circumstance) the same as I would if someone did that to a kid. It says somthing about the person and what they value. To buy a pet is different, while I wouldnt because there are too many strays that need homes and breeders are irresponsible fuck holes, you have to obtain a pet as they are not biologically yours....If thats the stance, do you view child adoption in the same manner?

Sounds silly but what makes one species more important than another? Do we own a life because we have brains that are more advanced than theirs are?

My pets are as valuable to me, my soul and life as a family member. They are family members. I dont even like most human beings and I like all dogs.

I already said there is a difference between human life and animal life it is the order of things no matter how you argue it, there is a difference.

I would go out and shoot a dog if I had to but you couldn't get me to shoot a child to save my life. My own dogs are part of my family no doubt about but if worse came to worse iwould not only shoot my dogs but I would also eat them. They are a subserviant creature, that is their place in the order of things when the sun sets at night, you can't argue my position into changing either

My wish is not to change your position. I just disagree with you.
