hahaha I know what that stands for, but don't know what ERA stands for
Earned Run Average. Lower the better. This is the main way to judge a pitcher's effectiveness. Strikeouts don't matter much if you're tossing plenty of home run balls.

Run Batted In. Higher the better. This is the main way to judge a batters effectiveness. High RBI (when compared to their peers) means that the player is an offensive force. Often, a player with a high RBI count is treated differently by the opposing team. Out of 6 pitches, easily, there's maybe only one good one to hit.

I disagree with that... runs and OBP are extremely important to players that aren't in the 3-6 spot in the lineup.
