wednesday thread!
honestly at alot of CC's you can get a more personal relationship with your instructor, smaller class sizes. my sisters in CC right now and her average class size is 15-20 ... her biggest is 50 ... similar classes at some larger schools is like 200 ftl
Yeah and material wise, all the same topics are covered.
Words of advice from the guy who did that exact route in August of 1997. If you end up at the CC ...
1. Take the placement tests seriously. You can save yourself years of pain by placing into average / above average classes (101+). Last thing you want is to fall into pre-req hell (080, 090, 091, etc)
2. It isn't that bad. Make sure you consult with a counselor on which courses will transfer. You don't want to waste a single class credit. I fucked this up badly, and lost 18 credit hours (1.5 semesters) in transit.
3. Go to class. When you realize "I don't have to be there" is when you're screwed. Take it seriously and do your best.
Good luck again.

EDIT: One of my friend's classes at the University has over 500 people  Efff that....
I had a biology general lecture class that was about 500 people. I don't personally mind it, hell, I'll take classes in a fucking football arena if I need to, as long as I get a decent grade

my biggest class was about 250 or 300 :hs:

1. Having a full time retail job. Most of my co-workers were seasonal. When everyone went back to school, there'd be nobody in the store to do the work. I missed quite a bit of class because I felt needed at work.
2. Realizing that I don't have to be in class. I didn't figure this out until my first spring semester.
3. Undeclared major. I had no idea what I wanted to do. I did my best to hammer away at the gen eds, but it's hard to stay focused when you have nothing to focus on.
What got me motivated?
1. realizing that I'm capable of doing more.
2. seeing my friend graduate. It's a swift kick in the ass when you're doing the same thing for 4 years and they're not.
3. getting old.
I finally transfered into a state U at the age of 21 (turning 22) with a sophomore standing. It wasn't that bad of thing though, 911 happened during my first semester there and the economy fell into itself.
Gen eds are taught in massive lecture halls at state U's. The same gen eds are taught in class rooms at CC's.
