The Matrix is a Corolla hatchback that says Matrix on it. The platform and engines are identical. Toyota has always officially called it the Corolla Matrix, and includes the Matrix in Corolla sales numbers.

Those look identical to me.

Toyota lists the Matrix as a separate model on their website and other marketing materials, however the Owner's Manual included with every Matrix says Corolla Matrix on it.
