god dont know how many times my pops handed me a wrench when i was little and told me to climb under the truck and hit the starter. bastard always made me do it

Came here to post this.

My friend had this problem on his truck last week. Like with you, we would only hear a single click and that was all. The single click we heard was coming from the relay, not starter.

After I wacked his starter with a hammer, it started right up.

Older gen Toyota trucks are notorious for needing the starter tapped once in a while.
