your missing the point, it's not 1 on 1, its 5 on 1... do you honestly believe his friends would have just stood there doing nothing? his girlfriend was there, lots of shit would have happen, it's easy to say and see what should/could have happen after the situation occurs... I honestly think it would have turned out worst for Tim if he tried to fight back. If his G/F wasn't there, I would say kick, scream, do whatever you can to win regardless of how many dudes are with the the person... he wasn't just worried about his safety, he was worried about his g/fs... and probably dog

 

From what it sounds like, the one guy was kicking and punching him. The others stayed out. If Marshy had started throwing punches and going at it, you can be damn sure he would have suffered a far worse beating.

I can see your side, but I think backing down was the lesser of two evils for him given the situation.

5 on 1 is a bigger reason for me to stand up because i know either way im gonna get the shit beat out of me, i'd rather do it standing than laying down. either he kicks the shit out of me or his friends join in but if i do nothing either way im fucked.

now you add that my gf is there, that ends the thought in my mind im standing my ground and im telling her to run as fast as she can to the nearest person and dial 911 the whole way. and im going to use whatever is in my environment against these guys to stay between them and her

in this case it died out awefully fast because people were present everywhere so there were lots of witnesses to call the police. had no one been there it would have been quite different. doesnt really sound like there was time for marshy to make a choice because of that.

the discussion is moot because there were so many people around

You're still missing the point h: You treating it like you can control the situation from preventing them from getting to your g/f, to having a minute chance of actually landing a hit without being knocked unconscious first...
