these kids come back into the neighborhood and see marshy, what you think they will do?
From what it sounds like, the one guy was kicking and punching him. The others stayed out. If Marshy had started throwing punches and going at it, you can be damn sure he would have suffered a far worse beating.
I can see your side, but I think backing down was the lesser of two evils for him given the situation.
