If it weren't for Virtua Fighter, maybe. But SFII wasn't the only fighting game around in the early '90s...so quit riding it's nuts and getting all butthurt when people don't like it.

Street Fighter was basically the reason why modern fighting games exist as they did today. Capcom adopted the current fighting games during the 80s and created the genre we had today. It was the catalyst of the combo/special move type system you guys have in the games today. If you want to believe it or not it's up to you but that's the truth.
