Ha, my friend from HS is one of their IT manager at their Thousand Oaks office. I think it's one of their main offices.
they seem to be doing well. There's an Amgen complex across the street from me too.

Fine enough area. Expensive to live, and nothing really immediately fun to do, but it's largely clean and close enough to LA so that if you decide to have fun, it's about an hour's drive away.

I worked with Amgen a few years back on a few oncology research trials, their clinical staff was pretty competent and they reimbursed well for their research. Don't have any clue what it would be like to work for them though.
