More HD-DVD/Blu-ray news

I'll post back comparison thoughts when I get the ps3.
My current computer can't play 1080p mkv back smoothly, but I can at least freeze frame 1080p mkv to check for any macro blocking, color banding, compression artifacting, etc...
720p mkv is my current bulk of movies, so we'll see how that compares also.
About the xbox 360 addon: yeah, the HD-DVD player is interesting as that everything that is normally in chips and hardware was re-created in software. 100% core useage x 3 fo sho.
