Don't try and equalize pouring between mixer and liquor. Liquor usually wins because subconsciously you want more liquor. However, with the mix 2:1 liquor and especially after working on your 3rd drink that has followed the same suit - you will get fucked up.

When I tended bar, if someone at a table I was taking-care-of, told me there wasn't enough alcohol in a second or third round drink, I'd just pour alcohol on the straw. They never came back to complain. This is easier when you're the Well bartender. They never see you do it.
