Get an Oppo for upscaling.
Use your PS3 for BluRay.

Seriously though, I still watch most stuff on a 25'' SD (not even flat) w/ mono sound and the damn thing doesn't even have composite a/v inputs let alone component, etc.... by your media standards I might as well be dead h:

Hmm, wasn't really looking to spend more money if the ps3 already had the function to do so. How much do those run?

$180-$225 I think. It's just not a god DVD player plain and simple. Try some other DVD's and see how they look.

Upscaling is ok... but no where near your Blu-Ray
Yea i'm not looking for super quality but watchin a dvd in 480i on a 47" tv makes it looks pretty choppy. :hs: Even 720p output would be fine.

Did you noticed a difference in the upscaled ps3 image vs your regular dvd player? What movies did you use?

Ive watched We Were Soldiers, Fast and the Furious, Talladega Nights, Top Gun, and The Guardian to name some. I have noticed a difference in them, but I can't compare it to any other upscaled video, so I can't say if it's up to those standards.

I have the fast and the furious dvd so i'll give that one a shot when i get home. Maybe it was just that OZ box set or something.
