Yeah I am used to them being almost a standard for rock crawling but on a rear engine the vw style design makes sense. I got to drive an LS1 powered 4 seater with an md4 in it and I was impressed with the smooth shift and solid build of their trannies...not to mention they really take a beating.

wait...which car....the LS7 or the J32A2 type-s motor?

The trans in the LS7 is a Fortin H, modified with torque converter in place of clutch...a manual four speed that you just pound though the gears...no clutch.

I dunno I guess I was thinking of the ls7 and commentin on the J series at the same timeh:

I just need to go bury my head back into my fj40 build and be done with it already so I can get some trail time in...but am thinking of bending up a single seater R1 powered rail next year

If you opt for the R-1 project...do the extra spend on the Comet Clutch...they are so solid and snappy.

Just worked on a "busa" powered mini rail today...it would give any v-8 car out there a run for the money...up to 80 anyway..
Minis are extremely maneuverable.

If you Jeep it instead, check out Poison Spyder...we just "built" with a capital B a TJ unlimited with all the batman parts from PS...very good stuff, and tough as nails.

Either way get some wind in your hair and dust in your crack.

Well congrats new guy... you are the first one to come in here in about two year who:

1. Made sense
2. Didn't come off as a retard
3. Didn't sound like a 13 year old wangster
4. Didn't invoke mass bashing by the OGs
5. And didn't run off at the end of the thread crying

Welcome. You should most likely have a long and happy stay here. Nightshade will be your best friend on here with this stuff... but he probably WILL make you cry eventually. h:

Can:
1. Thanks
2. Thanks
3. I'm Old
4. Don't know what OG's are, so not afraid of them.
5. Knees are shot, can't run. Might as well hang with fellow motor heads.

Will be happy to stick around. And look forward to the challenge...about time something got a rise out of my puckered old ass.
