Not after 8 months. You usually have 1 week at most to return to the place you bought it from,.

My thing is, how many of us remove our systems from where they are at and with compressed air, blow the inside of it out. I don't...if i see dust i'll wipe the console off and keep going.

it is normally 30 days for tv at your local retail store. but it is irrelevant to this thread

I exchanged my MP3 Player at best buy after 8 months w/ receipt. Granted, that was only $125 at the time. They simply gave me another one.

Not at all. Went in, said 'this is warranted for 2 years per the box, it broke, i want another'. they looked up my account, and said, OK, go grab another. Its amazing what stores like that will do if you just ask!
