here's this :dunno:

the guy found signal noise using a 50ft cable ... and wasn't able to reproduce it. he was using 35 ft pieces (monster vs monoprice) with no differences at all.

I have NO idea what you'd need a 50ft HDMI cable for. Maybe a projector application? That'd be it though.

Makes sense. More cable = more resistance

To compare the output of a $4 cable vs a $50 cable. If it's the same, then there's no difference except for a name brand and $45. :dunno:

There are a lot of uses, signal is prone to bleed as well as resistance. The wire can build up a light EMF and transfer over to another wire.

remember HDMI cables send sound as well as video. someone could potentially have separate amps with a central device center, esp in high end homes. Or how about in a bar or other business. pretty much anywhere a central control station might be utilized long HDMI runs have benefits.

:edit:
for short runs there is absolutely no reason to go expensive. Unless the cable is to be run through a RF heavy area or alongside powercables/other signal carriers.

I'm looking on monoprice to get an HDMI cable for my new tv and I know you guys keep saying that there's no difference between the cables but what's this about 1.3a cabling? They say it'll allow more bandwidth or something...is this going to become the new standard or something?

Just wanted to know before I place my order. :hs:

Look into more what your TV HDMI spec and get the cable that goes with it. (I think you can download the manual and it will be in there.)
