Default Anyone know any good website to....

Apply for a student grant? I am in college...well a tech school (WyoTech) and I am looking for grants to help pay for tools for when i get out, and $400 a month to live on is barely cutting it to live on, let alone purchase tools.......plus i know most places require tools to start working which I have next to none..........Any suggestions? Any bit of help will be appreciated!

There are a lot of mini-grants floating around out there. I dont know of a single place where you can apply for most of them, but I know they are out there. Search around and you will find them. Otherwise, I think most people just take out loans to buy their tools.

I applied at fafsa before I left for school......fafsa is the most racist finical aid thing ever.......I got $2000.......one of my friends got $17000.....she's black.....and my other friend who is Hispanic got over $10000.......if your white you are pretty much screwed over by the government.......... of course the $2000 helped pay for school, but that doesn't help me get tools to work with

You're in a different situation being in a tech school. Go to their financial aid office?

Which program are you in? If you are going into automotive most shops will not expect you to have a decent sized tool set yet. I'd start off with a small Craftsman set. Make sure to get a 1/2" impact gun, 1/2" torque wrench, all your 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" sockets, extensions and ratchets. That should get you started. You can also pick up small stuff at Harbor Freight. Such as hammers, prybars, pick/hook set, screwdrivers, various measuring tools for brakes/brake rotors, tread depth of tires, and tire pressure gauge. I've started with a small Craftsman set and added more stuff as I've seen what I need rather than want. Only buy tools that make you more efficient and most importantly make you money back. Also get a cheap Craftsman box until you can get that nice Matco box Just make sure the first few months you learn more than emphasize on purchasing tools. You have a long road ahead good luck :P
