Depends on how it breaks... When your bone punctures skin it doesn't feel good. I'd say the femur was the worst for me. I was in a cast from my hip to my ankle for 6 months.

I was lucky never to break a bone that needed a cast. I just had splints for my thumbs.

I did chip a fragment off my heel when I was young...but it didnt break
