I disagree with all the above assessments.

I believe the best anti virus to be ESET's NOD32.

http://www.eset.com/

They have a fully functional 30 day trial on their website.

It is 58.50 for single user 2 year definitions if you decide to buy. (39 for one year)

I actually purchased this product. That is saying a lot.

It is "available" by other means if you are so inclined. *oink*

A small footprint is a large advantage of NOD32. You don't know that it is there unless you get infected with something, the way an anti virus should be.

My parents are running it on a Pentium 3 700Mhz system with 384MB of RAM. Kaspersky slowed their system to a crawl. They say they don't notice NOD32 running.

Heres a comparison page I found on their site.

avg. it's free, does the same scheduled updates & scans that the big boys do but doesn't do that whole making you pay thing.

plus, it's much less of a resource hog than the big boys.

I sometimes don't even put on protection on my PC. All you have to do is know how to use a PC and you dont have to worry about viruses. I think i've had about 3 viruses and that was back when i got my very first PC and was downloading hacking software.

my comp is a little old but still decent but with anything like norton or mcafee, it just slows to a crawl. been using AVG for a year now with abolutely no problems, and I download quite a bit a stuff.

Not like you guys don't get virii it's just there's a lot less press about it cause there are fewer owners and less coders for virii for a smaller platform.
