Cliffs: German Politician wants marriages in Germany to automatically expire after 7 years.

At first I thought this was just a crazy idea, but after thinking about it for a minute, it kind of makes sense. After 7 years, it makes the couple to talk about if they really want to "renew" their marriage. Forces them to face the issue instead of fostering a loveless and meaningless marriage that people may stay in just because it's "comfortable" or "easier than a divorce".

It'll probably never happen but I get where she's coming from.

Discuss.

and what if they have kids during this time? im assuming they might just try to avoid having them altogether, but in essence its like "hey, i dont feel like putting the effort into our marriage so lets not renew and lets forget about the things we've built together." i dont think two people can have a mindset of sticking things through if they dont see the magnitude of their initial commitment
