glad to see you're starting your retirement account. is it through fidelity? my 401k allocation is all kinds of messed up. currently i think it's approximately

25% international funds
35% balanced/target funds
25% small cap funds
15% money market

Our org just switched to Valic.

They gave me these choices. All I understand is the order of risk each one has compared to each other. Other than that, picking the diversity is just a stab in the dark. I also wanted to start a ROTH right now, do you know of a good place to start one with? Last time I spoke with Wamu and they wanted to charge initial fees and everyone said that not all places do that. Thanks

for roth ira, i recommend www.vanguard.com to everyone. some of the lowest fees in the industry and good fund choices.

as for your 403, what's hybrid? do they mix funds for you? all that big/medium/small/growth/blend/value stuff is sooooo confusing to choose and keep track of. definitely get exposure to international though.

If its confusing to you...think about how confusing this is to someone with NO knowledge in investments :wtc: It is one reason why I keep all my money in a liquid fund. But I figure that its at least time to get started.
