I started my riding career on dirt bikes, but my first ever street bike was a 2005 Yamaha R6. The very same day, my friend bout an R1. Starting out, I gained confidence on my bike much quicker than he did. He always had to be very cautious while I was able to ride a little more aggressive without the worry og being bitch slapped by my bike. 2 years later, I've graduated to a GSXR 750 and can ride circles around my friend on any track. I can put down better times on his 1000 than he can. I like to think that it had a lot to do with me being able focus more on riding than the power of the bike I was on.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT...I WASNT GIVING OUT ANY BAD ADVISE...I SAID BASICALLY IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT GO FOR IT...DUDE IVE SOLD BUSA'S TO GIRLS THAT WEIGHT 120LBS AND THEY CAN RIDE THEM JUST FINE AND THE ONLY REASON YOU LEARNED QUICKER THAN YOUR BUDDY WITH THE R1 IS BECAUSE YOUR BIKE IS 40LBS LIGHTER AND SLOWER THEN HIS, BUT ILL GAURANTEE HE WONT BE BORED WITH IT...

That has to be the dumbest thing i ever heard. Don't listen to this fool Lab, he's the type that'll have someone pick up a Kawasaki ZX-12R just because they won't get bored with it, even though they never rode a bike before. It aint about just being easy with it. It's not just about going easy. I heavier bike is exactly that HEAVY. If someone with no practice and no experience try to move around on a big bike then sooner or later they are in for a rude surprise. That's why the number one thing they teach you in the Motorcycle Training class is not to get a bike bigger then you basically. If you can't flat foot a bike it aint for you plain and simple. You're a idiot and thinking like yours is why death among new riders is the way it is. I'd rather be bored with a bike then smeered on the pavement cus i was "bored" with my 500.

I mean if that's the case. Alot of people wouldn't drive civics, they'd get bored and according to what you're saying, they would be happy with a Z06 or any other car that is heavy with poop loads of HP.

Hahahaha if anybody can tell you post count means jack shit around here ESPECIALLY in the basement. And actually i've owned 2 bikes so far and i'm not looking for anything else cus quite frankly i'm contempt with mine.

I don't agree with that "If you can handle it, then go for it." What's the point of jumping on a bike that you "MIGHT" be able to handle but when it comes to properly handling a bike, any "REAL EXPERIENCED" rider will tell you that getting a big bike when you start out is not a good thing to do. Yes there are some of those people who just are the exception to the rule but most people cannot handle a big bike as a first bike.

anybody that buys a liter bike as a 1st bike should be required to buy life insurance payable to some charity in need so at least the charity will benefit from from some dumbass' stupidity

oh, and honda tech....could you also put the "bold" ib code before all your posts, cause the all caps shit isn't quite annoying enough

I saw that and stopped reading to post.
I agree and disagree at the same time.

I think anyone buying a bike and beginning to ride with the idea they won't drop it is the person who shouldn't be riding.

Buying and riding a bike is never a matter of "if" you lay it down but rather "when" you lay it down. Most riders go down within the first 6 months to a year of ownership. This is what insurance is for so this eliminates the "buy what you can afford to drop" theory. Anyone who rides without insurance, frame sliders and leathers is an idiot and Darwin is just waiting for the right moment to strike...and he will.
