edit: Or maybe you have some lag w/ your internet connection. Are your ports open? When I tried playing online in hotels, I had horrible lag. You would shoot people that weren't there anymore and get killed randomly by people that you couldn't see.

Because of the visual lag, you could be seeing things 1 second late ... that's a world of difference when striking and sniping.

Amazing, my PS3 doesn't have any 1080p lag.....

the 1080p and HDMI were backwards fitted for the 360 to make it look PS3 hardware comparable. In the original specs, it wasn't capable of doing that.
I'm sure the 360 hardware is stressing to get the job done.

maybe i should try 720p. i'm on 1080p component right now, and i always seem to lose melee battles and up close shotgun battles.
