:dunno: i kinda like the interior.... and i wanted to get one, when we were car shopping the last time around, I was told to get whatever i wanted as long as it had 4 doors and a back seat so that when kids come around, we will be able to use whichever car... but in all reality, the backseat is so useless for anything beyond storage, i dont see the point in having it at all... when the 8 first came out there were rumors about a 2 door version and a convertible.... still waitin for those :squint:

anyway, i think they are cool cars, drive one and see if you like it... and as for reliability, i also read that the reliabilty issues from the previous rotary engines have been addressed so you should be alright ...

Rotary engines are perfectly reliable, the overly turbocharged examples in the RX-7 gave the type in general a bad reputation.

Rotary engines do not "burn oil" as if something wrong is going on. The only way for them to lubricate their apex seals is to inject oil into the combustion chambers, so yes they do consume oil. Check the level and top off accordingly.

The main thing the RX-8 has in its favor is that Mazda is very good at building a nice-handling FR chassis. If you intend to amuse yourself by taking your vehicle out on country back roads and chucking it around, then you will like it. If you want something that's a sports car so you can look cool driving around suburbia, then you may want something that doesn't require you to perform such brain-intensive tasks as checking your oil level every third time you get gas.

anyway, it's fun to drive, but all that body cladding and shit just looks too gaudy.

rotary ftl

requiring a dealership everytime you need engine work done ftl
having 90% of parts being dealer only ftl

rx-8 ftl

and with your obvious lack of automotive knowledge you shouldnt purchase a vehicle that has such a exotic engine design.
