Anyone know a good book for a beginner trying to learn webdesign - something with alot of illustrations and provides info XML, HTML, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc.? Is there anything like this?

i think it will be hard to find something that goes over html, xml, dreamweaver and illustrator.

dreamweaver and illustrator probably would have their own.

i got a book for a class at school on html and xhtml, its from thomson course technology, new perspectives. i like it a lot, i even kept it.. that says a lot.

I have the Crowder & Bailey Creating Web Sites Bible. Its good. It has HTML, CSS, RSS, Javascript, Flash, and XML. Bits and pieces of each. It won't teach you and hand hold you through each language. It has helped with some things. I'm more of a person to figure it out on my own, or just use google.
Good luck finding one book that has all of that. What I would do is get one for HTML, one for CSS, a small one for Dreamweaver, and one for ASP or PHP(Depending on your server)

I dislike the For Dummies books. They don't have a lot of information that you need.

Two things that are widely know with web designers, I have yet to be found in a book. 1. Use the three color rule. Every page should have three main colors. This keeps things uniform and easy on the eyes.
and 2. The 3 click rule. Every page on your site should be accessible within three links.
