most of the larger universities give you office for free so check it out before you get anything.

Not for me. MS office is so clumsy on an Intel mac, not to mention it opens in 5 different windows. And I use Open Office at school on the Linux workstations because, well, Windows really does blow.

ms office may be free to university students/faculty, but open office is free to all
h:i like ms office fine, but word's math equation editor is a headache, open office's equation editor is much better
