My stepfather only makes about 70kyr owns a 4BR home, H3, and 300M w/ a wife and 2 teenage girls. I was doing ok on 50k w/my current debt situation, without the debt and a 30k raise I could do much better. Maybe I just know how to stretch a buck better than most:dunno:
I really don't think you'll have a problem :dunno: The only thing I'd be worried about is the commission aspect, plus the kid. If you were single I'd say it's a definite, but you know how kids and women give you a lot of unintended expenses...

I wouldn't say it's full of negativity. More like realistic. I made plans to get a 911 Turbo and I will. I don't have any debts except the mortgage which is well below 6 figures now. I also own all my vehicles and don't owe anything to the bank. I set forth my plan back in 2002 and stuck to it. I also have enough savings to live the way I am living if both me and my gf were laid off tomorrow for 2+ years. You did mention saving 10K but is that enough money to keep you afloat for 6months which is the current "rule of thumb" with all the new expenses of a home and houses?

Just because someone doesn't agree with your "plans" it doesn't mean they are being negative against you. I will say that it's not easy sticking to a plan but the end reward is well worth it.

I wouldn't worry about the commission aspect. Often the best salesmen forgo any base pay and instead take a higher commission percentage and ceiling. Because they know, at the end of the day base pay is just that base and if they work harder and get a big sale the commission will more than make up for the "loss" in base pay.

:werd:

We're not trying to hate, just be realistic. When I got a good raise, I thought I was going to get all this shit too. But the more you make, the more you pay in taxes. You could do all that you want, but it's going to take some time.

I would think that a lot of comission based jobs are seasonal though. I think he said he worked for Pepsi (?) awhile back, but I can't remember.
