i havent seen all the episodes, so all i know is the ones i've seen, and most of the information is stuff i learned to do... granted it was all basic common sense survival techniques, nothing requiring any special training.

i think people just need to realize that it still is TV and they have to understand even if its a "survival" show ... its still a SHOW and theres bound to be a element that isnt shown or portrayed in a different light

I think you're confused. The stuff he does isn't what he recommends doing. It's more like "If you're caught in this situation, this is what you should do". For example, if you're caught out in the middle of a lake, try using your pants/clothes as a flotation device. Not "use this to cross a lake". I've seen this various times throughout the show...he'll put himself into dangerous situations that aren't recommended to show you techniques to get out of those situations as best as you can...including jumping onto thin ice and having to climb out.

no you haven't seen the episode. he stands by the lake shore and starts to inflate his pants to use as a flotation device to cross the lake. His make shift flotation device then loses air.

this was one of the first episode if not the first so it's possible they have changed their "core message"

Exactly! I mean, in that case he'd recommend throwing yourself in quicksand. h:

Don't tell me what I haven't seen. I have in fact seen the episode in question. If you listen to what he says, he says that going around would be the safer, wiser decision. But if you have to cross the lake then this could help. He wasn't recommending crossing the lake. His scenarios are always "if you have to, this can help".

okay great. i don't remember him saying it's a safer decision to go around. i remember him saying crossing the lake was the quicker way.

to me his show is more like fear factor with only 1 contestant rather than a survival show. but i suppose it's 99% entertainment and 1% survival technique? his scenarios are so extreme I find it humorous most of the time or i cringe... the elephant shit water comes to mind

Being dropped off in the middle of the Amazon would require a little higher % of survival technique........atleast I would think so.
