Default new rig suggestions?

well my current desktop has met its end. its served me good for the past 4 years. but now i need something new. i dunno what to do tho, since i will most likely be getting a new laptop next month for school. do i get a new desktop? or use my current laptop as my desktop? since i wont be using it much once i get the new one? any suggestions?

oh keep in mind that the desktop is also used as the family/business computer.

you could build a inexpensive system for under $500 now for what you want to do.

that is reliable :P I build them all day long and if they have any issues its a typical hardware failure from products being mass produced or people having no clue of what works well together!

just get a cheap ass Dell for $600 or less. It will do what you want and if you get bored you can call their tech support. If you already have a monitor it will cost you even less than that.

Just stick some different memory into your computer, see if it changes. Or swap the CPU into another computer.
