workout crew....preventing shin splints

you have to figure out if how your feet are.. pronate? overpronate? etc..
find a pair of shoes that match your feet .. if you're unsure, goto a running store and have them fit you a shoe.
personally, i stay away from nike's ... i ran xcountry, track, and other running events throughout my youth.. and i like ascics.
and you should start slow.. by slow, i mean low intensity, low mileage. work your way into a routine. get your muscles relaxed, and concentrate on your form. i like to walk on my heels after i get a good run in. stretching is good, after you workout.
jus use common sense.

Ascics are the shit. New Balance is also pretty decent. I never liked Nike's or Reebs when it came to running shoes......
Try to work on your strides and form as well. A lot of new runners will overlook this part and run incorrectly. Make sure that you're rolling your feet and keep your strides straight or else your foot will absorbe too much and/or unbalanced shock from improper planting.
