Default Mysterious clicking noise coming from computer

I can't tell if it's one of the hard drives or if it's a fan. Every time I try to figure out what it is it mysteriously stops. It knows when I am looking for it :nervous:

EDIT: Solved. I finally was able to hear the clicking noise with the case open and thankfully it was just a fan. I took the fan out and cleaned it and so far the clicking has stopped. I'm so happy it wasn't one of the hard drives

Only a few things can click while a computer is in use: power supply and hard drive!

Get diagnostic tools for your hdd and do a test on it.

I can tell it's coming from the front of the computer...which means it's either a hard drive or a fan. It happens most often when the computer is idling or loading a web page. I'm thinking it's the Hitachi hard drive. It says my MFT usage on the hitachi was 99% so I increased it and it says the drive is healthy now. I am defragmenting my other drive just in case. It says the MFT usage on the other drive is 94% so I will increase that too. I don't think it will help the clicking. Although since I started the defrag on the western digital hard drive the clicking has stopped...but then again I did just mess with the other drive.

now I think it might be the Western Digital Raptor hard drive. Because when I defrag it the clicking stops until the defrag is complete and then starts again.
