h:they're similar, broadcast tv looks better on her plasma than it does on my lcd, though 1080i hdtv looks great on mine. her blacks are better, my colors look sorta washed out compared to her's. build quality is decent, we have viewsonic and toshiba lcds as well and vizio seems like it'll hold up. our uses are different though, i bought mine to use with my computer and game systems, she bought hers to use to watch tv and movies. costco and sam's club carry vizio, if you have the time, just buy the one one you like and use it and if you're not completely satisfied, return it and buy the other one.

As for my opinion on the TVs.
I first had the 37" LCD and now I have the 42" Plasma.
I honest like the picture quality on the 37" better than the 42".

1080i, 15000:1 contrast....but not 1080p. I don't want to have to get another tv in 2 years if 1080p is the standard.

Here you go man. I got BB and Circuit City mixed up. You can get that same plasma at CC for $1299 right now. Let me know if you go through with it because I was looking at the same thing to replace one of my Sony's.

btw the p50 and the vp50 are the same. bp50 is the cost reduced version.

Yeah I know that, and actually heard that the vp50 is newer and better than the p50. Notice the different contrast ratios...10000:1 vs 15000:1
