the fda tests pesticides and you can wash your food before you eat it.

organic is the stupidest thing evAr
I don't support organic because I feel that it's nutritionally superior... I eat organic foods because often there's a whole business paradigm shift that incorporates more environmentally friendly farming practices.

I put preference on eating locally produced stock, then organic, then high quality commercial foodstuffs.

A friend of mine is all about the organic stuff. He's a big dumb hippie and is all about not putting evil disgusting horrible chemicals in his body. Until he takes his creatine powder.

Myself, I'm all about good food, but I just go for overall high quality ingredients be they organic or not. My favorite place to go food shopping for fresh stuff is the closest Brennan's Market which also has a Jacobson Bros butcher shop & deli right inside. It's heavenly in a just-good-ass-food way without all the hippie pretense of Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.

The law is iffy on the current biotechnology that is going on with genetic modification of crops. Its hard to even separate the modified from the non-modified (accidents happen). Also, genetic food is released well before its fully tested and even if it doesn't harm humans directly it still has been shown to harm us indirectly.

But my feeling is if you're fucked you're fucked. I prefer cheaper.

There is a major *reasonable* question behind the use of biotech plants... How do you prevent them from getting in the wild or mess up the local ecology? Either you have self-teminating plants, and thus the whole food industry ends up in the pockets of Monsanto (There was a case, IRC, where a farmer's crop was affected by the pollen of a neighbor's GMO crop, and the farmer was sued by the IP owner behind that particular GMO... I'll have to look that up before I can qualify that as anything more the heresay though), or you end up with plants that are self sustaining, but can escape into the wild, with far reaching implications in that (say, corn with toxic pollen gets loose, decimates local bee population, and suddenly all the fruit producers in the area are screwed).

GMO stands to the world a lot of good... we just need to know how to proceed before we potentially make things worse...
