You have a lot of things running in the background and obviously more that we can't see.

Sort the memory usage from most to least and then take a screen shot.

he has 46 running... i got 51.... used to have 70.

low memory / resourses shouldnt bring the system to a standstll every few minutes.

Have you tried running hijack this and getting the log analyzed?

negative. i do have hijack this installed, though. i'll run it in a few mins.

good call. its been a long time.. and i have 4 drives. h:

i'll give it a whirl. i heard NOD32 was one of the best, and has a very small footprint so it wouldn't take many system resources so i switched.
NOD is one of the best ... im just trying to null out any possibilities.

check the Physical memory usage under the performance tab in the task manager.

install this, and disable everything that starts up on boot. then you can one by one add them back and see if its a program causing it.

start > run > msconfig
