True... but intent has a big part of it. If the kid at the table next to them was absentmindedly eating a ham sandwich, and the Somali kids freaked out thinking it was a hate crime against them.... Well, that would be BS...

This, though, was a dick move, and apparently mirrored a similar dick move committed in the same community. I dunno about blowing it into a full blown "hate crime", but a suspension isn't out of line for such behavior. I would be in just as much favor of suspension as, say, a kid slipping gay pr0n into the schoolbooks of a christian kid. In a school, dick moves, if caught by the administration, should be punished, and suspension isn't out of line. Explusion would be extreme and I would have a problem, but a suspension? I'm fine with that

Anyways, when kids are that age, you gotta nip such problems in the bud early, or else they just grow everywhere.

I think that he is saying it's ridiculous cause the religion does forbids eating pork rather then being arround pork. I know a fuck load of pretty hard core muslims and i never even heard of them not wanting to be arround it. They wouldn't eat say a veggy that touched pork but being arround it fuck that

That being say i agree with you... The making fun of a group or religion is what should be punished.

That's exactly what I said too... if they were just freaking out cause a kid was eating pork near or even next to them, then that would be one thing and it would be pointless to get worked up over some kid's social hypochondria.

I think the school handled it well... if, in some godforsaken future I end up being a parent, my kid ended up pulling this, I'd thank the school for suspending him. They did the right thing here.

i agree, suspension great, thats exactly what you need to do, but these groups claiming that the issue is done with and talking about it being a "hate crime"

seriously, come on, these are kids. lets suspend him and sit him down and explain why what he did wasnt funny and what the implications of his actions have on muslims. but seriously do we need to cause a huge media frenzy and stir up all kinds of issues and bring the term of hate crime into this? no we dont.... but sadly thats how america is today

Those Somalis have been nothing but trouble. I remember a few years back the mayor of Lewiston wrote a letter to the newspaper asking the Somalis to stop coming since they milked the cities welfare program dry.
