If I'm out at a restaurant or something, I silence it the moment I sit down like I do at movie theaters-there for I don't check if I don't hear or see it ringing. I find it immensely rude when people's phones are ringing and being answered in restaurants. If I'm on another call, I WILL look at who it is, but generally I'll keep talking to the original person unless its an expected/important call. If I was on a call with a friend and the SO called, I'd click over and see what's up. If its something quick, make the exchange brief and click back over, if its long I tell her I'll call her back in a few.

If I'm driving, writing or in the middle of an interview, the phone can go fuck itself.
Ditto for restaurants or any other place where it's reasonable to expect some peace and quiet.

I cannot stand having to listen to one half of a conversation about absolutely nothing.
And don't get me started on cell-phones and driving.

If it's an absolute emergency or a call I have to take, I'll step outside to handle business.

No one else needs to hear it, IMO... and that rule should go both ways. h:

+1, in CA they're passing a law if they haven't already that requires hands-free devices for people on cell phones while driving. You can get a ticket supposedly if caught.

I ususally check my phone to see who it is. Sometimes I say fuck it and just quiet the ringer if I am really busy or in a convo.

Kind of depends.

Doesn't make a damn bit of difference. :a:

People still drive like fucking idiots when they're lost in conversation and trying to drive in traffic.

Maybe it's because I still live near college, but I swear... every fucking time some driver does stupid shit, I'lll see them yacking away into their headset with their eyes glazed over.

Oh.. and the new law in LA county is half-assed at best.
It's a $20 non-moving violation and they have much bigger issues to police anyway. :a:

I only answer the phone in the car if absolutely needed. Its not uncommon to see me on the side of the road on the cell phone if I know its gonna be an important, drawn out conversation.

I try to keep my conversations in the car as short as possible. Unless I'm not in the city and driving in the back roads with nobody around, then I'll chat a little.

I chose option 3... but pretty much everyone is worth at least a "Hey... at dinner... lemme call you back"
