are you using cheap HDMI cables? I bought one from eBay and my picture was green. I went to CC and bought a belkin HDMI cable and solved my problem.
Guess you do have to spend some $ for these stupid cables.

I think you need a signal amplifier. Depending on the current state of your coax cables leading (and the sheer distance too) into the cable box, you're having lots of signal degradation.

I don't think it's the HDMI. I don't think it's the TV.

Google for your cable box but you can check your signal levels in the setup/info screen. I have a very similar HD box for mine and I can check signal levels. That will at least tell you if they are good or if you need to get the cable co out there.

i have the MOXI box... it has a setting for different output resolutions, and unless you uncheck the 480i, it will just display at the resolution without upconverting.

did you run the setup wizard? (box off, TV on, hold Info and Guide buttons on the box)

test it with Auto resolution(TV scales) and Fixed/Upconvert (Box scales) and see what looks better.
