Default HDD Question.

So I have a partitioned hard drive that is no longer being used as my master. How do I delete the partitions so that it is one big hard drive again?

administrative tools > computer management > disk management

right-click the partitions > delete

then create the new partition spanning the entire drive

That will reformat your entire hard drive though.

If you don't want it to reformat there are a few partition managers around. I can't remember what one I used.

i'm sure he's away of that.

but anyway, since you mention it, partitionmagic (not freeware) is one of the more popular partition managers. i'm hesitant to trust partition managers though.

I think thats the one I got. I liked it a lot. I had to repartition my hard drive and didn't want to reformat it and it worked excellently.

1- why do you insist on posting linux-specific answers to windows-specific questions? were you dropped on your head as a baby?

2- why do you linux goons insist on sticking with the archaic .tar and .gz compression formats? does it tickle your vagina to be redundant? have you not discovered that there are many better compression algorithms out there that require you to do it only once?

1- Maybe I should have been more specific. My suggestion to GPartEd was in response to your suggestion of PartitionMagic. If you are going to mention 3rd party ways of doing it, who are you to say I can't mention that one? It handles windows partitions just fine.

2- tar and gz can be combined, but are also separate. They offer plenty of compression to do what I need. Getting an extra 5k of compression out of a 500MB file is really stupid. Don't forget we have the option of bz2 as well!
