How hard was it to get your permit? Being that you're from NY and I'm from NJ we would have similiar laws, maybe yours being more strict.

 

the laws here are ridiculous.

Basically, since I only have a permit I can only leave the gun in my house but, i can take it to a gun range. Has to be unloaded, in the trunk and in a carry holster type thing.

I think it was easier for me since i have family in law enforcement but you gotta get interviewed by a high ranking police offical before they even give you a permit. There is a gun shop/ school near my house and they were able to help me through the process.
Ohh, also you have to take the class and through them you can get the permit.
You cant just go to the police plaza and tell them you wanna permit. Schools gotta sponser you and such.
Its really not worth it in NY.
In PA all you have to do is go to walmart, show them your license and your out the store with it.

I am getting 3 new ones this week myself...all in the 223 flavor

One for long range, one for tactical and one may end up an auto pistol if I can swing it h:

I like those Taurus 1911s, seems like a good intro to 1911s and the price is great. I've heard some complaints about the quality of the metal-working however - any truth in that?

 

the only complaints ive read about them are from people who don't own one, ironically. ill let you know when i get it
